We take concerns raised about a doctor’s behaviour, health or performance seriously. Here you'll find details on the type of concerns we can investigate, and the actions we can take to protect public safety and confidence in doctors. Being a doctor under investigation is stressful. You'll also find information on how we investigate concerns and sources of support available to doctors.

Are we the right organisation?
We want you to raise your concern with the right people. Sometimes that's us. But other organisations may be best placed to help.
Do you have a health condition (including alcohol or drugs) or sanctions and criticism for any offences in our reporting guidance. You should tell us if you have a health condition which may prevent you meeting the standard described in our guidance.
We help to protect patients and improve medical education and practice in the UK by setting standards for students and doctors. We support them in achieving and exceeding those standards, and take action when they are not met.
