Investigation Committee hearings for doctors
The Investigation Committee considers whether a doctor should be issued with a warning. Investigation Committee hearings are conducted in accordance with The General Medical Council (Fitness to Practise) Rules 2004.
Where we decide at the end of an investigation that a warning should be issued, and the doctor does not accept the warning, the matter will be referred to the Committee to decide at an oral hearing. A doctor may also choose to have a decision about a warning referred to a committee hearing.
We only publish the outcome of hearings where the committee issued a warning.
Upcoming hearings
Dr Upendra Singh
GMC number: 5205918
Hearing date: 28 and 29 January 2025, at 09:30 (two days)
Location: Virtual hearing via Microsoft Teams
Area of practice: Nottinghamshire
The Committee will consider the allegations that Dr Singh:
- in September 2022 shouted at a colleague and then ignored and excluded this colleague for about 3 months after the incident
- between March and June 2023 acted in a way that caused a further colleague, who had submitted a letter of complaint against him, to feel threatened and/or intimidated.
Dr Singh has not accepted the warning proposed by the GMC case examiners. The case has therefore been referred to the Investigation Committee to consider whether a warning should be issued.
Concluded hearings where a warning was issued (last 12 months)
Dr Christopher Valentine, 28-30 October 2024
