Application process

We’ll normally ask you to submit your CV and a covering letter, and for some jobs you may be asked to complete an online application form. We’ll provide specific details for each vacancy.

Make sure you give some thought to the opportunities on offer and how they match your skills and experience. We recommend using our applicant guidance notes to help you make the most of your application. These will be attached to each vacancy.

When you’ll find out if your application has been successful

Shortlisting usually takes up to two weeks from the closing date of the vacancy.

If you are successfully shortlisted for a role, we’ll ask you to attend an interview – either virtually or in person. Sometimes we might ask you to attend an assessment centre. (this may include a group discussion or a job specific assessment) Our assessment centre tests normally include an interview, but not always. We’ll ask you to come back at another date for an interview (this could include a mixture of competency, scenario and values-based questions) if it’s not included in the assessment centre.

Disability Confident interview scheme

We’re committed to the Disability Confident employer scheme, as part of which we support the requirements of the Disability Confident interview scheme. This means that if you have a disability and meet the essential criteria for a role as outlined in the person specification document, you will be offered an interview.

Declaring a disability is an individual choice. If you choose to disclose one, we’ll consider that only for any work we do to meet the requirements of the Disability Confident interview scheme, and to make agreed reasonable adjustments in the recruitment process. The only people who will have access to this information are the resourcing team and recruiting manager at interview stage.

If you’re successful and require reasonable adjustments to support you in your role, we’ll discuss this with you and your manager, aiming to put the adjustments in place before you start.

We're committed to making the recruitment process accessible for you. For example:

  • we can provide application forms and / or correspondence in different formats depending on your needs
  • we can make adjustments to the recruitment process, such as altering interview arrangements.
