Helping us with an investigation

We investigate concerns about doctors, physician associates (PAs) and anaesthesia associates (AAs) so that we can protect the public and maintain professional standards.

As an independent regulator our role is to gather information to understand what has happened when a concern has been raised with us. We do not represent witnesses, the doctor, PA, AA or anyone else involved in our investigations. .

If we’ve asked you for a witness statement, it’s because we think you could assist our investigation into concerns about a doctor, PA or AA.

We’ll often speak to a range of people to form a clear picture. It may be that you received care from the doctor, PA or AA, or you were working with them when an incident took place. Even if you weren’t directly involved in events you might be able to help us with useful background information or documents.

Your statement will help us build a picture of what happened and decide whether we need to restrict or stop their practice.
