Our measures

We have a range of actions we can take on a physician associate (PA) or anaesthesia associate’s (AA’s) registration.

We can take action to make sure we protect patients, maintain confidence in the medical profession and uphold the standards we expect of PAs and AAs.

We can give them a warning, or we can reach an agreement with them to put conditions or suspension in place, or remove them from the register.

We can also refer them to the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS), which has the power to impose restrictions on a PA or AA’s registration or remove them from the register.

All actions we take against PAs and AAs are published on our registers according to our publication and disclosure policy.
