What do I need to provide?

As part of your application, you'll need to: 

  • check we accept your postgraduate medical qualificationIf your qualification is not on our list, you'll need to apply for registration through another route.
  • provide evidence of your postgraduate qualification. Please check our list of acceptable postgraduate qualifications to see what evidence you need to provide.

Your postgraduate medical qualification should have been awarded no more than three years before the date on which we approve your application. If your postgraduate medical qualification was awarded over three years ago you will be required to provide consultant reports that cover at least six months of your last 12 months practice, and three of your last five years practice

Note: The Joint Royal Colleges of Physicians Training Board does not issue letters of equivalence for overseas qualifications.

Primary source verification

You’ll need to have your postgraduate medical qualification independently verified (in the same way as your primary qualification) before we can grant your registration with a licence to practise. Please note that some postgraduate qualifications must be accompanied by a letter which also requires verification.
