Supervision of physician associates and anaesthesia associates

Good practice advice for doctors who supervise and work with physician associates and anaesthesia associates.

Physician associates (PAs) and anaesthesia associates (AAs) are healthcare professionals who work under the overall supervision of a named senior doctor. They provide patient care as part of multidisciplinary teams in primary care, secondary care and in the community.

Here you’ll find information and advice on supervision, delegation and accountability when working with qualified PAs and AAs. This advice is underpinned by the key principles from the professional standards and engagement with professional bodies, doctors, PAs and AAs.
