Dual CCTs

Postgraduate training organisations may offer dual Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) programmes. A CCT shows that a doctor has completed an approved specialist training programme and is eligible for entry onto the GP or Specialist Register. A dual CCT means that a doctor has completed all requirements of both curricula and is entered on the Specialist Register in both specialties.

We have set out some Principles for dual CCT training programmes for deaneries and local offices. This guidance replaces our previous position statement Improving the national consistency and approval of dual CCT programmes, which was published in 2015.

We approve acceptable dual CCT pairings where there is a significant overlap between specialties and a clear service need for doctors to be trained in two or more areas of practice. New pairings are proposed by medical royal colleges or faculties.
