- Curricula approval and making changes
All postgraduate curricula must meet the standards set out in Excellence by design.
Royal colleges and faculties must make an application to us to approve changes to a curriculum or assessment that leads to the award of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT). In addition to checking that the curriculum or assessment continues to meet our standards, we may ask other key groups, such as GMC education associates or the Curriculum Oversight Group (made up of the four departments of health and statutory education bodies), for advice.
For more information, see Making changes to postgraduate curricula and programmes of assessment: A guide for medical royal colleges and faculties.
The curriculum and assessment approval application form can be downloaded from GMC Connect. Royal colleges and faculties can also contact us if they want to discuss making a change.
