Our initial assessment process

- Our initial assessment process
We try to conclude our assessments as soon as possible.
The length is partly fixed by the steps that we must take. But it also depends on what kind of information we need to make a decision.
This information could include:
- further documentary evidence, eg medical records
- witness statements
- expert reports
- an assessment of your health
- an assessment of your knowledge of English
- an assessment of your performance.
During the process, we can refer the concerns to an interim measures tribunal if we get information that suggests your practice should be restricted or suspended while we conduct our assessment.
Once we've collected all the information we need, we will decide what to do next.
If we decide to carry out an assessment of a concern raised about you or your practice, this doesn't mean we've reached any kind of decision. Many of our assessments end with no action and only the most serious concerns end in suspension or removal from our registers
