Health assessments

We may receive concerns about your physical or mental health:

  • if you refer yourself to us
  • if you are referred by your employer
  • during the course of an investigation.

If we believe that your health may adversely affect your ability to practise safely, we may ask you to take a health assessment.

If we need you to carry out an assessment, we may also ask if there is any evidence you think may help us to assess your physical or mental health.

Why you need to read this guide
If we’ve asked you to have a health assessment, or if you want a better understanding of our processes, this guide will walk you through what to expect.
Can I refuse to take a health assessment?
It’s important that you take a health assessment if we ask you to. If you don’t, it may impact on your registration status and, in some cases, you may no longer be able to practise or hold registration.
