The fixed term discount reduces your fee if you’re a newly qualified doctor.

You don't apply for this discount. We automatically apply it to your fee when you make your initial application for registration online. We also apply it to your annual fee for up to four years.

The current discounted fee is on our fees page under registration fees for newly qualified doctors. 

I’m moving from provisional registration to full registration

We apply the discount to:

  • Your initial registration fee for full registration.
  • Any annual fee that is billed for four continuous years from the date of first full registration grant.

I’m a newly qualified doctor

We apply the discount to:

  • Your initial registration, if you apply for registration within five years of your primary medical qualification award date.
  • Any annual fee that is billed within five years of your primary medical qualification award date.

Wherever you’re based - whether it’s in the UK or overseas - your eligibility for a fixed-term discount isn’t affected.

Your bill and your GMC Online account will detail the discount if we've applied it to your annual fee.

When you’re no longer eligible, we’ll automatically charge you the full amount for the type of registration you hold. If you’re earning less than the income threshold when you’re billed the full fee, you may be able to apply for an income discount.
