What happens if my qualification assessment is not approved?
- What happens after you’ve paid your qualification assessment fee?
- What happens if my qualification assessment is accepted?
- What happens if my qualification assessment is not approved?
- I am ready to have my qualification assessed
If after assessment, we believe your qualification does not meet our criteria, we will email you to let you know the reasons why we did not accept this. Unfortunately, this means you will not be able to apply for registration with us.
Please note that if we decide your qualification is not acceptable, you cannot appeal against this decision. It is at the GMC’s discretion to determine which overseas qualifications are acceptable for the purposes of registration in the UK.
Please note that should you decide to withdraw your assessment, or if it is unsuccessful, we’re unable to offer you a refund as outlined in our fees.
Where a decision has been made not to accept your qualification, it will remain unacceptable, unless there is a material change which relates to the reason(s) given for our decision that the qualification was not acceptable. For example this could be:
- You are able to provide new and/or additional evidence in a new request for assessment, which addresses the reasons given for our decision that your qualification was not acceptable to our satisfaction, or,
- our criteria are amended, and the changes to the criteria mean that your qualification now meets the criteria.
Please note:
- You cannot appeal against the decision that an overseas qualification is not acceptable; it is at the GMC’s discretion to determine which overseas qualifications are acceptable for the purposes of registration in the UK.
- You will also need to meet a number of other requirements in order to be eligible for registration, and a determination that an overseas qualification is acceptable does not necessarily mean that you will be granted registration. Our registration evidence framework sets out our policy for the standards and requirements you need to meet in order to be granted registration, and the evidence that will allow you to demonstrate this.
