How did Zholia Alemi get on to the register?

Zholia Alemi joined the register via the Commonwealth route. This route – which used to be available to doctors who qualified in certain Commonwealth countries – was abolished in 2003.

Zholia Alemi applied using a fraudulent qualification. She is currently serving a five year prison sentence for fraud.
