The Investigation Committee

The Investigation Committee decides how to resolve our investigations where our senior decision makers:

  • can't agree what should happen
  • offer a warning to a doctor, but the doctor does not accept the warning and asks for an Investigation Committee hearing.

After hearing evidence from us and the doctor, the Investigation Committee can:

  • impose a warning on the doctor
  • conclude with no action
  • refer to the MPTS for a full tribunal hearing if new evidence emerges that suggests the doctor should not be allowed to practise unrestricted.
