About the consultation
- Summary
- About the consultation
- Key findings and changes to our guidance
Before developing this consultation, we spoke to:
- doctors, including appraisers and responsible officers
- patients, carers and members of the public
- and organisations representing doctors and patients
to understand how they wanted to see our requirements change.
We drafted changes to our requirements based on this feedback in collaboration with an advisory group. The group was made up of doctors, responsible officers and patient representatives. We then consulted on the proposed changes.
What we asked
The main themes covered by the questions we asked in the consultation included:
- Reflecting on patient feedback annually
- Using different sources of patient feedback and allowing different methods of collection
- Reflecting on both solicited and unsolicited feedback
- Gaining more representative feedback and making the process more accessible
- Support from organisations in seeking patient feedback
- Approach for doctors who don’t have patients
Respondents could reply to our consultation online, by email or in writing.
Who responded?
We received 789 responses in total. 743 were from individuals and 43 from organisations (others were anonymous or didn’t give this information). 80% (616) of responses were from doctors and 13% (103) from patients and the public.
A detailed breakdown of respondents by category can be found in Annex B of the full consultation report. Organisations that responded to our consultation are listed in Annex C of the full consultation report.
