The consultation sought feedback on the draft rules, standards, and guidance needed to implement the AAPAO. It was laid before the UK and Scottish Parliaments on 13 December 2023.
Below are the updated versions of the:
- seven sets of rules
- two pieces of education guidance
- three sets of principles to inform fitness to practise decision-making guidance.
The final versions of these documents were implemented on 13 December 2024 when the powers for regulation of PAs and AAs came into effect.

Fitness to practise decision-making guidance

The updated fitness to practise decision-making principles were implemented into guidance from 13 December 2024 for PAs and AAs. They will come into effect from spring 2025 for doctors.
