Maintain your registration
To maintain your registration, you'll need to keep your contact details up to date and pay your annual fee. Failure to do this may put your registration at risk.
Update your details in GMC Online
You must keep your contact details up to date, so that we have an effective way to communicate important information about your registration status to you.
You can keep your contact details up to date in your GMC Online account. This includes your:
- Email address
This is our main way of contacting you. - Telephone number
If we receive a returned email, we will attempt to contact you on the number you have given us. - Postal address
It's important to make sure your postal address is always current. If we’re unable to contact you via email or telephone, our final option will be via letter.
If you’re unable to update these online, please contact us.
Changing your name
Good medical practice requires you to make sure you're identifiable to your patients and colleagues. For example, by using your registered name when signing statutory documents.
If you've changed your name and want this to be reflected on the register you'll need to complete the electronic change of name form. The form tells you what evidence to provide, which you can scan and attach when you submit the form.
You should return the form and scanned evidence from your registered email address. You can check your registered email address through GMC Online.
Changing your gender status
If you want to tell us about a change to your gender status because this is now different from what you told us when you first registered, please email regservices2@gmc-uk.org, or call us to find out how to do this. Your enquiry will be handled by an experienced adviser, who will help you through this straightforward process. Your enquiry will be confidential.
