How to set up a GMC Online account?

There are three routes to set up a GMC Online account as a PA or AA.

Transitioning from the voluntary registers

If you were listed on the voluntary register of physician associates or the voluntary register of anaesthesia associates on 13 December 2024, you should have received an email in January 2025 inviting you to apply for registration. The email included your GMC reference number and a link to activate your GMC Online account.

Please contact us if you didn’t receive this email.

UK PA/AA Students

Your PA or AA course provider will provide us with your details before you are due to qualify, and we’ll create your GMC number.

We’ll email to invite you to apply for registration when you’ve qualified and passed any necessary examinations.

Please don’t attempt to set up an account before you get this invitation email.

Not on the voluntary register or a UK student and do not have a GMC reference number

If you aren’t in one of the above groups, you’ll need to go to our eligibility checker. You will be given guidance on how to set up your GMC Online account if you are eligible to apply to join our register.
