How to use this guide for your application
You can use this page to help you answer the questions on your application for registration. The questions cover health conditions and fitness to practise issues.
The answers you give on your application are valid for three months. If your application takes more than three months to complete, we can ask you to answer the questions again before we make a final decision.
Being honest in your application
Honesty and integrity are at the heart of professionalism. What we expect of you is covered in Domain 4 – Trust and professionalism of Good medical practice.
You need to be honest when you apply. If you aren’t, we can refuse your application. If we find out you didn’t tell us about something relevant, we will investigate it to find out why and we might open a fitness to practise case.
When we ask about events or conditions affecting your work, you should consider all work you have done, not just your employment as a PA or AA.
You don’t need to tell us about all your health conditions and there are other things you don’t need to tell us. Read the rest of the guide to find out what you do and don’t need to tell us.
Joining the register
When you apply to join the register for the first time, we will ask you two questions about your health and seven questions about your fitness to practise. Each question we ask you has a page below designed to help you answer it. You don’t need to read all the pages only the ones most relevant to you:
- managing health conditions
- health concerns affecting study or practice
- cautions and convictions
- other actions and fixed penalties
- course provider concerns
- employer concerns
- investigations and refusals by organisations
- malpractice and negligence claims
- performance, professionalism and other concerns.
