Portfolio approved programme application

This guide is for doctors who have completed GP training in a GMC approved training post, but failed to pass one part of the MRCGP within programme.

It explains if you are eligible for a Portfolio (approved programme) application and how to make one. Please note, if you want to work as a GP in the UK health services (other than in a training post) you must be on our GP Register.

Important information for doctors intending to work as a GP in the UK

To start work as a GP in the UK, you'll need to complete a number of processes. Some of these are handled by organisations other than the GMC.
