Registration guidance for international anaesthesia associates
This guide is for anaesthesia associates (AAs) who have a qualification from a country outside of the UK that allows them to practise the profession.
The steps you will need to take to apply for registration are:
- Qualification assessment process
- Obtain evidence of English language (where necessary)
- Pass both parts of the AA Registration Assessment (AARA)
- Independent verification of qualification through ECFMG, a division of Intealth
- Registration application process, including identity check.
There are fees to pay at each step of this process. The AA profession in the UK is small and employment opportunities may be limited. Due to the time and costs involved, we strongly recommend you assess UK employment prospects before applying for registration.
