Acceptable postgraduate qualifications
If you have one of the postgraduate qualifications listed below, we can accept that as evidence that you have the necessary knowledge, skills and experience to apply for full registration with a licence to practise.
Your postgraduate medical qualification should have been awarded no more than three years before the date on which we approve your application. If your postgraduate medical qualification was awarded over three years ago you will be required to provide further evidence of your recent medical experience.
If your qualification isn’t on either of these lists, you’ll need to use our application finder to find the application that’s right for you.

The overseas qualifications listed meet the same standards as UK postgraduate qualifications. But this does not mean they are the same as UK qualifications in every way. It's important to note that they do not guarantee entry to UK specialty training.
If your qualification is not listed, then it is not acceptable for the purposes of full registration with a licence to practise. However, we may accept a letter from a UK medical Royal College confirming that an international qualification is equivalent to its own qualification.
The JRCPTB can no longer confirm that an international postgraduate qualification is an acceptable alternative to the MRCP (UK) qualification.
You may be eligible for specialist or GP registration if you hold a Recognised Specialist Qualification which meets the current GMC criteria for recognition. Please check our Recognised Specialist Qualification list.
