On 1 October 2024 Dr Chaudhry accepted a police caution for the criminal offence of possession of an extreme pornographic image ‘which portrayed, in an explicit and realistic way, a person performing an act of intercourse with a live animal’. This conduct does not meet with the standards required of a doctor. It risks undermining public protection, specifically patient safety/public confidence in the profession/professional standards and conduct and it must not be repeated. The required standards are set out in Good medical practice and associated guidance. In this case, paragraph 81 of Good medical practice is particularly relevant: 81 You must make sure that your conduct justifies patients’ trust in you and the public’s trust in your profession. Whilst this failing in itself is not so serious as to require any restriction on their registration, it is necessary in response to issue this formal warning.
