In 2022 Dr Baldy provided their employer with information that was inaccurate leading to their employment in a role that required experience beyond their professional capability.
This behaviour does not meet with the standards required of a doctor. It risks bringing the profession into disrepute and it must not be repeated. The required standards are set out in Good medical practice and associated guidance. In this case, paragraphs 2, 4, 81, 82, and 89a of Good medical practice are particularly relevant:
2 You must recognise and work within the limits of your competence.
4 You must follow the law, our guidance on professional standards, and other regulations relevant to your work.
81 You must make sure that your conduct justifies patients’ trust in you and the public’s trust in your profession.
82 You must always be honest about your experience, qualifications, and current role.
89 You must make sure any information you communicate as a medical professional is accurate, not false or misleading. This means:
a you must take reasonable steps to check the information is accurate
Whilst this failing in itself is not so serious as to require any restriction on Dr Baldy’s registration, it is necessary in response to issue this formal warning.
