Dr Rosewarne On the 1st July 2023 Dr Rosewarne reviewed Patient A’s peripheral CT angiogram scan images at the request of a junior radiological Trainee Dr B and hefailed to diagnose the presence of an aortic dissection. His failures were two-fold. First, he failed to review Patient A’s scans in their entirety as he was duty bound to do so. Second, he failed to identify the abnormalities on the parts of the scan that he did review. The consequence of these two failures led to the failure to diagnose the aortic dissection. This represents a clear and specific departure from the professional standards expected of a doctor. The required standards are set out in Good Medical Practice and associated Guidance. This behaviour and poor performance impacts on all three parts of public protection. In light of this being a single incident with significant mitigation which includes the context in which these failings occurred, the Tribunal has determined that his fitness to practice is not currently impaired and therefore no restriction will be placed on his registration. However, if repeated, the conduct would likely result in a conclusion that his fitness to practise is impaired. It is therefore necessary to issue a formal warning to place you on notice about your future conduct and behaviour. He must always review patients’ scans in their entirety when it is his duty to do so.
