On 12 August 2024, Dr De Kiewiet undertook medical activities for which a licence to practise medicine was required, namely assisting with a right triple pelvic osteotomy and a proximal femoral osteotomy of Patient X. At this time, Dr De Kiewiet did not have a licence to practise medicine. This conduct does not meet with the standards required of a doctor. It risks undermining public protection, specifically patient safety, public confidence in the profession and professional standards and conduct, and it must not be repeated. The required standards are set out in Good medical practice and associated guidance. In this case, paragraph 81 of Good medical practice is particularly relevant: 81. You must make sure that your conduct justifies patients’ trust in you and the public’s trust in your profession. Whilst this failing in itself is not so serious as to require any restriction on Dr De Kiewiet’s registration, it is necessary in response to issue this formal warning.
