Our approach to publishing fitness to practise history for doctors who have transitioned gender

On Friday 21 February, we wrote to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, and the corresponding government ministers in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. We clarified our approach to the publication of fitness to practise history for our registrants who have transitioned gender.

In the letter, we confirmed that fitness to practise history is accurately displayed on the records of all of those doctors and no fitness to practise history has been removed or suppressed.

We also provide assurance that no doctor will escape accountability or transparency about any fitness to practise history through changing their gender.
