Dr Bawa-Garba hearing - GMC statement
GMC statement following S40a appeal - Dr Bawa-Garba.
Charlie Massey, Chief Executive of the General Medical Council, said:
‘The court has reserved judgment in this case and we await the outcome.
‘At the heart of this case was the sad death of a six-year-old boy, Jack Adcock who did not receive the care he should have. We would like to recognise how difficult this entire process has been for his family.
‘This has been a tragic case and we acknowledge the strength of feeling expressed by many doctors. Our decision to appeal the doctor’s suspension was not taken lightly. We would stress that cases such as this, where a doctor has been convicted of gross negligent manslaughter, are extremely rare.’
