Developing professional standards for PAs and AAs
As part of our planning for bringing physician associates (PAs) and anaesthesia associates (AAs) into regulation we ran a survey focused on the development of professional standards in June 2020.
The survey was designed to discover more about the reflections and experiences of working as, or with, a PA or an AA. We particularly wanted to better understand views on delegation and supervision, scope of practice, multiprofessional team working, and patient awareness of the two professions.
We received 1,147 responses to the survey.
In December 2020 and January 2021, we’re running a series of focus groups with those who completed the survey, and others, to explore the results. A fuller, combined analysis of the focus group findings and survey results will be published in the new year.
