Description: annotated screenshot of the GMC education data tool
The screenshot shows the education data tool interface, with one report displayed: "Post specialty by trust/board year on year comparison". Green callout boxes around the edge of the image explain how to use the main features. Those features are described below.
Navigation menu (top of the page)
A dropdown navigation menu gives access to all six sections of the tool: Indicator – Trainer, Indicator – Trainee, Question, Other NTS reports, Progression reports, and Summary reports.
Return to the main website
A "GMC website" link in the top right returns you to the main GMC website.
Filters
A row of filters lets you search for specific results. The filters shown are Geographic deanery/HEE local office, Trust/board, Post specialty, and Indicator. A "Clear filters" button above them removes all filters currently selected.
Information and help buttons
Two round buttons sit near the top right of the report. The "i" button opens an explainer for that specific report. The "?" button opens the help pages.
In-report navigation buttons
Two buttons, "Year on year" and "Data downloads", let you move between the report dashboard and the data downloads view.
The data table
The report shows a table of survey results. The number of rows is 248,292. Columns include Post specialty, Trust/board, and Indicator, followed by survey years 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2023, each with a Score and an Outcome. The example rows show Acute Internal Medicine at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, with indicators such as Overall Satisfaction, Clinical Supervision, Reporting Systems, Work Load, Teamwork, Handover, Induction, Curriculum Coverage, Feedback, and Rota Design. Most outcomes read "Within IQR" or "N less than 3".
Exporting data
Hovering over a table shows a more-options ellipsis (three dots) in its top corner. From there you can export the data.
Footer links
The page footer includes a feedback form for comments and queries, and a Help link. The Help link (also available at the top of the page) provides general help information, a how-to video, and a glossary of terms.
