Standards for PA and AA curricula

These standards set out what we expect of the curricula for physician associates (PAs) and anaesthesia associates (AAs). There will be one curriculum for PAs and one curriculum for AAs, which will apply across the UK. The curriculum developer will own the curriculum and will retain an ongoing responsibility for designing the curriculum in a way that meets these standards.

We will assess the curriculum against our standards and approve it. For it to be approved, the curriculum developer must provide evidence to show how the standards and requirements set out in this document have been addressed. This will also apply if the curriculum developer wishes to make any changes to the curriculum. The Education and training rules for PAs and AAs explain our approval process.

These standards sit alongside the PA and AA generic and shared learning outcomes and the Standards for the delivery of PA and AA pre-qualification education
