Future of education and career development 

Our health services are evolving, driven by innovation, changing patient needs, a more diverse workforce, and new ways of working. These shifts bring opportunities to think about how we educate and support the next generation of medical students, doctors, physician associates (PAs), and anaesthesia associates (AAs). 

We’re reviewing the standards, outcomes, and guidance for how education and training is designed and delivered in the UK.

Our goal is to make sure current and future registrants have the skills and support they need to meet the evolving needs of patients, creating a system that fosters flexible, fair and innovative learning for all.

Locally employed doctors’ experiences of medical education and training

Read our report by former Clinical Fellow Dr Zeinab Ibrahim-Hashi, which explores locally employed (LE) doctors’ experiences of education and training. Drawing on the findings of focus groups across the four countries of the UK, it discusses the opportunities available to LE doctors. And it highlights the challenges and barriers they face.
