Medical student competition 2026

2025 winners

This year’s winner is Shahid Ahmadi, a second-year medical student from King's College London. Shahid created a fantastic video exploring why sustainability in healthcare is included as a duty in Good medical practice and in Achieving good medical practice.

Judges praised Shahid’s entry for his innovation, which combined his medical knowledge with his recently found passion for cinematography.

• Ethan James Cox from the University of Nottingham created an interactive game.
• Diya Shebeen & Ben Phillips from the University of Sheffield created an animated video.

2024 winners

We are delighted to announce that 2024's winner is Eshwa Zahra from Brunel University of London.

The third year student created an animated video focusing on simplifying the MLA’s purpose, structure and role in medical training. The judges praised the entry for being accessible, engaging and assuring.

2023 winners

We are delighted to announce that 2023’s winners are Marcus Kam, Sagarika Kaushal, David Gringras and Alex Mazilu from the University of Edinburgh – congratulations!

The fifth year students produced a video exploring how to apply the guidance Achieving good medical practice to various scenarios students might face on placement.

The judges were impressed by the relatable nature of the content, with the scenarios presented being plausible and discussed in an engaging and nuanced way.

• Lakshya Gopal, Ayomide Lawal and Leila Grocott from Imperial College London who created an Instagram post and interactive quiz.
• Krishen Mistry and Cody Mayer from St George’s University of London who created an animated video. Please note, while the judges praised this entry for its creativity, they noticed use of the word ‘confident’ and would like to highlight the difference between being confident and competent with regards to performing tasks while on clinical placements.

2022 winners

Congratulations to Nidhi Agarwal, Akil Khalid, Jakevir Shoker and Zobia Wadi for winning the 2022 GMC and Medical Schools Council competition.

The 5th-year Leicester Medical School students created an animated video that explores a few scenarios that medical students may face on clinical placement and explains how to apply our guidance in these instances.
