Credentialing
GMC credentials formally recognise a doctor’s expertise in a specific area of practice.
Working with a small number of early adopters, in 2023 we approved curricula for GMC credentials in:
- rural and remote medicine
- mechanical thrombectomy
- pain medicine.
The credentials are now ready for implementation by the UK statutory education bodies.
We do not plan to develop any further GMC credentials but will continue to support and learn from the early adopters. The findings will support the career development of all doctors and help to improve flexibility in postgraduate medical education.
