Quality reporting systems and monitoring
As part of the reactive quality assurance process, quality items can be raised and monitored using the Quality Reporting System (QRS). The system operates through GMC Connect and can be used at any point.
Quality items can take the form of:
- concerns regarding physician associate (PA) and anaesthesia associate (AA) courses
- items under enhanced monitoring
- areas of good practice
- conditions.
The QRS allows the GMC, and the PA or AA course providers to create and manage items via a live system that meet our thresholds for reporting. Quality items can also be created by the GMC based on findings identified in our proactive quality assurance process.
When an item has been created, the relevant course gives us regular updates until the issue no longer meets the threshold for reporting, or in some cases, it’s escalated and we put conditions on the course approval.
