Reactive quality assurance of PA and AA courses

We set standards for providers of physician associate (PA) and anaesthesia associate (AA) pre-qualification education and check they are being met. We do this in two main ways, proactive and reactive quality assurance (QA).

The reactive QA process allows concerns to be monitored on an ongoing basis with help from course providers.

Quality reporting systems and monitoring

Understand how quality items can be raised and monitored by the GMC and course providers using the Quality Reporting System (QRS).

Raising a concern about PA or AA education

If you have a concern about any aspect of a PA or AA course you should try to resolve the issue locally through your course provider. They will all have a complaints process in place to deal with issues that arise. If you have raised a concern related to our standards with your course provider and they have not addressed your concerns, then we may investigate.
