The relationship between primary medical qualification and nationality, 2017 and 2018
Insight purpose
Since the UK's vote to leave the European Union (EU), we've looked at the numbers of doctors of different nationalities who practise in the UK.
This working paper provides an update to our 2017 report sharing our latest available data and showing the changes in the numbers of licensed doctors by nationality group and PMQ region.
Figures are presented at both an overall UK level and, where available, for each of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. For the UK, we’ve also included the flow of doctors taking up and relinquishing licences.
What were the findings?
