Guidance on good practice

The GMC has a statutory role to provide guidance to doctors on medical ethics.

Ethical guidance

Our core guidance is Good Medical Practice (2006) (GMP) which sets out the principles and values on which good practice is founded.

We also publish supporting ethical guidance which provides more detail on how to comply with the principles in Good Medical Practice.

To find out how the principles in Good Medical Practice and supporting guidance might work in practice, visit our interactive web section, GMP in Action:

Try our interactive web section which brings the guidance in Good Medical Practice to life.

We are always looking for ways to improve and promote our ethical guidance and want this Guidance on good practice section of the website to be as informative and accessible as possible.
