The recommendation process - text alternative

Flowchart outlining the revalidation process for doctors. The process is a circular one with additional notes for points when you might need to contact us or others. Points 1-5 take place during the "statutory notice period. After point 7, the cycle begins again at point 1.

  1. Consider all available information mentioned in section 2.2
  2. Decide which recommendation to make
    • If you need advice on making a recommendation please contact your ELA. You must contact your ELA in circumstances mentioned in section 1.1.3
  3. Discuss your recommendation with the doctor (as appropriate)
  4. Make your recommendation to us and let the doctor know
    • We will contact you if your recommendation is overdue
  5. We make the decision
    • We will contact you if we need more information
  6. We inform the doctor of our decision and their new revalidation date as appropriate
  7. Doctor collects supporting information and participates in annual appraisals
    • If you have concerns about a doctor’s fitness to practise discuss this with your ELA
    • If a doctor does not engage in revalidation processes, let us know
