Specialist or GP registration appeals
This section is to help doctors who wish to appeal our decision, or failure to issue a decision, on their application for entry onto the Specialist Register or GP Register.
Appeals are handled by the GMC Appeals team. The Appeals team is independent of the registration process and aims to provide an impartial and fair service.
Appeals are available to some applicants for:
- Entry onto the Specialist Register with a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT)
- Entry onto the GP Register with a CCT
- Entry onto the Specialist Register with a Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR)
- Entry onto the GP Register with a Certificate of Eligibility for GP Registration (CEGPR)
An appeal must be made within specified time limits.
Appeals are costly and time consuming.
