What is full registration?
Full registration with a licence to practise means you can:
- move to the second year of the Foundation Programme (F2) in an approved training programme
- work unsupervised in medical practice in the NHS or UK private practice.
Why do I need full registration with a licence to practise?
You need to move from provisional to full registration before you begin in your F2 post.
If your application is successful you must work in an approved practice setting. You'll have to do this until your first revalidation.
Can I start F2 without full registration?
You must not start work in your F2 programme or any carry out any equivalent duties without holding full registration with a licence to practise. If you do, we'll have to complete an investigation before we can consider your application.
Remember, it's your responsibility to make sure you:
- hold the appropriate registration with a licence to practise
- don't practise outside the scope of your registration.
Don't rely on your employer or any other third party to check these for you.
