If you have previously held provisional registration and completed your internship in Ireland please provide a Certificate of Experience with the Medical Council of Ireland.
If you completed your internship elsewhere, we will let you know what evidence you need to send once we’ve assessed your application.
We need to see a Certificate of Experience form completed by a designated representative. This will be sent to us directly from your Foundation School. Please see our contact points for completing Certificates of Experience.
Please provide a Primary medical qualification issued by the competent examining body and a certificate of experience issued by the medical school for internships completed in Ireland pre 2011 or a certificate of experience issued by the Medical Council of Ireland for internships completed in Ireland from 2011 onwards.
Please provide a Primary medical qualification issued by the competent examining body and a certificate of experience issued by the medical school for internships completed in Ireland, and one of the following:
A document confirming the training leading to the award of your primary qualification meets the standards detailed in Article 24 of the Directive. This must be issued by the Medical Council of Ireland.
OR:
A document confirming you have effectively and lawfully been engaged in actual medical practice for at least three consecutive years during the five years preceding the award of the certificate (as detailed in Article 23.1 of the Directive). This must be issued by either the Medical Council of Ireland or the competent authority of the EEA country or Switzerland where you are now working.

Your speciality must be listed on our Relevant European qualification list by the country that awarded it. If your specialist qualification is listed, but you do not already hold full registration you should apply for full registration with a licence to practise and entry onto the Specialist Register at the same time.
