Full registration

Full registration with a licence to practise

I completed my degree 

On or after 20 December 1976

Provide a Diplôme de médicin/Master in de geneeskunde or a Diploma van arts/Diplôme de docteur en medicine issued by a Belgian university or Le Jury compétent d’enseignement de la Communauté francaise or De bevoegde Examencommisse van de Vlaamse Gemeenschap.

On or before 19 December 1976

Provide a Diplôme de médicin/Master in de geneeskunde issued by Belgian university or Le Jury compétent d’enseignement de la Communauté francaise or De bevoegde Examencommisse van de Vlaamse Gemeenschap and one of the following.

  • A document confirming the training leading to the award of your Belgian primary qualification meets the standards detailed in Article 24 of the Directive. This must be issued  by Belgian Ministry of Public Health or Communaute Francaise De Belgique.

OR:

  • A document confirming you have effectively and lawfully been engaged in actual medical practice for at least three consecutive years during the five years preceding the award of the certificate (as detailed in Article 23.1 of the Directive) issued by Belgian Ministry of Public Health, or Communaute Francaise De Belgique or the competent authority of the EEA country or Switzerland where you are now working.

The title of my degree is not the same as the one in the Relevant European qualification list

If the title of your degree is not as described above you'll also need to send to us a document from the Belgian Ministry of Public Health or Communaute Francaise De Belgique. It must confirm that your qualification is treated by Belgium as equivalent to the Diplôme de médecin/Master in de geneeskunde as detailed in Article 23.6 of the Directive.

Specialist registration

Entry onto the Specialist Register

I have a Relevant European Specialist qualification

Your specialty must be listed on our Relevant European qualification list by the country that awarded it. If your specialist qualification is listed, but you do not already hold full registration you should apply for full registration with a licence to practise and entry onto the Specialist Register at the same time.

I completed my specialist training on or after 20 December 1976

Provide a Bijzondere beroepstitel van geneesheerspecialist/Titre professionnel particuier de médecin spécialiste (formal evidence of having qualified as a medical specialist) issued by the Minister bevoegd voor Volksgezoondheid/Ministre de la Santé Publique (Ministry of Public Health).

I completed my specialist training on or before 19 December 1976

GP registration

Entry onto the GP Register 

I completed my GP training on or after 31 December 1994

Provide a Bijzondere beroepstitel van huisarts / Titre professionel particulier de médecin généraliste (certificate of specific training for general medical practice) issued by the Belgian Ministry of Public Health.

I completed my GP training on or before 30 December 1994
