Registration and licensing requirements
Doctors must be registered with a licence to practise, to work as a doctor in the UK.
When you employ a doctor, you must check they have the right registration for their type of post or practice. They should also have a licence to practise if their work needs one.
A registered doctor who doesn’t currently have a licence can apply for a job that requires them to have one. You shouldn’t be deterred from offering them a role. The doctor can apply for a licence, which can be relatively straightforward.
