Issues that do not need to be reported to us

  1. Issues that do not need to be reported to us

The following are issues that do not need to be reported to us (except where in response to the incident you have made blanket amendments to processes, including those affecting regulated exams).

  • Exams that we don’t regulate, even if they are sat by doctors or other healthcare professionals (ie they are not required in a specialty training curriculum at a critical progression point or for the award of a CCT).
  • Complaints or appeals from individual candidates.
  • Infractions by individual candidates.
  • Changes in pass rates that are within the usual range, expected or explained by cohort trends.
  • Temporary or incident-based changes to aspects of exam delivery that do not impact on candidates, results or exam reliability, eg a single instance of reduction in the number of standard setters.

If you are unsure whether an incident should be reported or have questions about any aspect of this guidance please contact us at quality@gmc-uk.org and we would be happy to discuss this further.
