Reactive quality assurance of medical education and training

We set standards for providers of medical education and training and check they are being met. We do this in two main ways, proactive and reactive quality assurance (QA).

The reactive QA process allows concerns to be monitored on an ongoing basis with help from medical schools or postgraduate organisations.

Quality reporting systems and monitoring

Understand how quality items can be raised and monitored by the GMC, medical schools and postgraduate training organisations using the Quality Reporting System (QRS).

We use enhanced monitoring to promote and encourage local management of concerns. Specifically about the quality and safety of medical education and training.

Raising a concern about medical education and training

If you have a concern about any aspect of medical education and training you should try to resolve the issue locally through your medical school or postgraduate body. They will all have a complaints process in place to deal with issues that arise. If you have raised a concern related to our standards with your medical school or postgraduate body and they have not addressed your concerns, then we may investigate.
