New courses under review
We put in place a formal approval process for all existing PA and AA courses so that approval decisions could be taken on evidence and set criteria. This approval process was agreed by the GMC Council, and you can read more about the criteria for approval.
One approval criterion was that each course provider has graduated their first cohort of students before being recommended for approval. The course listed below have engaged satisfactorily with our quality assurance process but have not graduated their first cohort of students yet and therefore have been unable to complete the required quality assurance cycle.
If we continue to be assured that our standards are being met at the point when the first cohort of students graduates we intend to return to the GMC Council with a recommendation to approve.
- Keele University PA apprenticeship course (first cohort of students due to graduate in May 2026)
We will carry out quality assurance of each new course that leads to the award of PA or AA qualification in the UK. Find more information on our new course approval process.
