Investigation Committee hearings for doctors
The Investigation Committee considers whether a doctor should be issued with a warning. Investigation Committee hearings are conducted in accordance with The General Medical Council (Fitness to Practise) Rules 2004.
Where we decide at the end of an investigation that a warning should be issued, and the doctor does not accept the warning, the matter will be referred to the committee to decide at an oral hearing. A doctor may also choose to have a decision about a warning referred to a committee hearing.
We only publish the outcome of hearings where the committee issued a warning.

Dr Mark Persaud

The allegation relates to Dr Persaud’s work for an NHS 111 service in Hampshire.
The Committee will consider the allegation that, on 6 November 2021, Dr Persaud failed to take adequate steps to understand whether a patient was able to attend a clinic appointment, failed to explain the risk of not attending and failed to give adequate safety netting advice.
Dr Persaud has not accepted the warning proposed by the GMC case examiners. The case has therefore been referred to the Investigation Committee to consider whether a warning should be issued.
