Professional standards training case studies

GMCSI has helped organisations and healthcare professionals develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to ensure safe patient care.

The training and advice guides doctors through everyday ethical decisions, with focus on the principles, values and standards of professional behaviour expected in the workplace.

Drawing on the expertise of GMC subject matter experts, GMCSI works with private hospitals and healthcare centres to identify areas of concern based on their complaints profile. We design and deliver bespoke training programmes that are tailored to the specific needs of individuals, teams and organisations.

Through workshops, practical training sessions and customised learning solutions, we help participants apply professional standards in practice thereby supporting continuous improvement and adherence to the required standards.

Bespoke professional standards training

A new private hospital opening its doors in England invited GMC Services International (GMCSI) to share our core professional standards with the new staff. We provided in-depth training on Good medical practice to the leadership team through an interactive and engaging workshop.

Following the success of the training, it was decided to include training on Good medical practice as a key component of their induction programme.

The delegates found the training helpful and informative. It was useful that they were able to ask questions to make sure a thorough understanding of the professional standards.

Professional boundaries and professional behaviours in a changing world

GMCSI designed and delivered three training sessions covering the important topics of professional boundaries and behaviours in a changing world. The interactive workshop was designed specifically for medical doctors. The trainers used a variety of methods including videos, case-based discussion and group exercises to explore the application of professional standards in day-to-day practice. Training content was based on the GMC’s revised Good medical practice standards, with specific focus on the prescribing of medicines, social media guidance and maintaining professional boundaries.

Feedback from the sessions was extremely positive with over 90% of attendees rating both the workshop and presenters as very good, the highest rating available. Attendees described the workshop as “First Class” and 100% would recommend the sessions to their colleagues.
